A 'pennyweight' is a common weight used in the measurement of precious metals. We believe that good food, hospitality and supporting local producers is equally precious, so the name pennyweight...wait for it... just made 'cents' ! (we also love cheesy puns)
Pennyweight Market has been operating independently since 2017 in the quaint little town of Beausejour, MB.
Bringing producers and customers together, and creating a welcoming space completes our vision of a community store.
Hi, I'm Jesilyn
But, you can call me Jess! In June of 2024 I was handed the keys to Pennyweight Market in Beausejour. Pennyweight Market has been a staple of Beausejour for over 30 years, starting off as Scoop a Lots and then becoming Pennyweight Market. The bulk food, Ice cream, Coffee shop holds a special place in the community's heart and of course ours.
When moving to Beausejour years ago I would love coming into Pennyweight, chatting with the owners, seeing the new items and of course having a PennyCap! So naturally, it was a perfect fit for me to take over the legacy of Pennyweight Market and help it grow while continuing the small town hospitality.
My husband and our three children live in town, loving the small community and local products. We look forward to spending time chatting and visiting with you while keeping the Modern day General store feel and of course the same Original PennyCap!
